HEALTHCARE LEADERS OF TOMORROW
2016 HealthCare Leaders of Tomorrow Scholarship Recipients
EVENTS
HealthCare Leaders of Tomorrow (HCLOT) is a mentoring program that inspires and prepares high school students living in low-income communities to pursue graduate level healthcare professions. The professions include medical doctors, dentists, pharmacists, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, physical therapists, etc. Statistics show that minorities are under-represented in health professions due to numerous factors contributing to social inequality. Our goal is to increase the representation of minorities in healthcare professions through education and resources.

HCLOT entails a comprehensive program that includes college preparation, activities, professional workshops and shadowing opportunities geared towards the health care field. Students are paired with a health-care professional that will be their mentor. Through our program we want to expose the youth to positive role models that can relate to their background and provide them the tools to help maximize their potential while pursuing career and life goals. Our program will help students be competitive and high quality candidates when pursuing post-graduate opportunities. Students are eligible to join the program between 9th and 12th grade. In addition 12th grade participants may apply for the annual HCLOT Scholarship Award.
